Bistrotek Restaurant & Bar
Bistrotek was a renovation & change of use of two existing commercial buildings in the Westchester section of Los Angeles. The project included a public restaurant area , separate dining room, bar, outdoor seating, and the full commercial kitchen/back of house functions all of which accommodates 100 guests. The project's aesthetic follows the intent of the restaurant’s menu, rustic, unassuming, with natural materials configured in a unique and comforting way.
One of the major hurdles of the project was negotiating a modification with the Los Angeles Fire Department for two openings in an existing 4 hour division wall. Without these openings, the functionality of the restaurant would have been severely compromised. Additionally, the project’s design and approval phase was compressed to 5 months, requiring submittals to city & county agencies for approvals/permits in multiple phases to maintain a tight construction schedule.
