Jeff is a founding principal of SAA and has over thirty years of design and management experience.  His firms have provided services for numerous prominent public and institutional clients such as UCLA, LAWA (LAX), Caltech, LACMA, the City of Santa Monica and the J. Paul Getty Trust.  Jeff directs all aspects of the firm’s work from programming and design through the completion of a project.  His leadership has established a culture of thoughtful, high quality design and an extreme commitment to technical excellence on all projects.

Jeff  has a keen understanding of the challenges associated with large scale projects having been the Executive Architect & Principal-in-Charge of the $275M Getty Villa Project Renovation and Expansion at his former firm Stenfors Pali Fekete (SPFa).  He lead a diverse team of AE and client consultants weaving together new buildings with historic renovations requiring significant seismic upgrades.  This required significant coordination with the design architect Machado Silvetti & the numerous other stakeholders.

His portfolio also includes a number notable LEED certified projects on UCLA’s campus, including the Hershey Hall Seismic Renovation, the Terasaki Life Sciences Building (with BCJ) and the School of Engineering’s Boelter Hall Laboratory Renovations.  Additionally his design for the UCLA WIN-GEM recently garnered funding under a grant from NIST.

As Principal in Charge, he will have the responsibility for the design team’s total work effort to design a project that exceeds expectations for energy performance, quality, functionality, schedule, and budget.  He will represent SAA in major project meetings, and will have intensive involvement in each phase to insure that the project goes smoothly, and to verify that design concepts are responsive to the program, budget and goals.
